Committees

We have formed 4 committees to help in accomplishing the goals of the Society.
We would like to encourage all members to get involved, by joining one of these committees, or submitting any ideas they may have.

The Committees and their Chairpersons are as follows:

The Newsletter is a quarterly, and we are always looking for information, we would appreciate all the help we can get.

Cemeteries
Co-Chairpersons Kay Ogle and Laura Spence
To provide any information of Jones County Cemeteries contact Kay or Laura Spence. This committee is excited to announce that they are currently working on surveying Jones County Cemeteries for publication in a series of cemetery books. The first and second volumes are completed and the third volume may be ready by the end of 2007.

Fund Raising
Co Chairperson Jo Huettl
Various Fund Raising activities are in the works to benefit both the Society and Heritage Place Library, just becoming a member of the society helps to raise funds for Heritage Place Library, as 25% of our membership dues are donated to the Library.

African American Research
Chairperson Thelma Waters
We hope to be able to put together a brief outline on beginning research on your African American Ancestors. Thelma has also announced the beginning of the African American Obituary project. If you have any obituaries you would like to donate please mail them to the society for inclusion in database. Thelma also asks that when you are researching your white ancestors, to please make record of any mention of the slaves they may have owned, including owners name, and slaves name, you could be helping someone out just by this small step.
